Choosing the Right Courses

Which math course(s) you take depends on a variety of factors including:

  • Your readiness
  • Your major
  • Where you want to attend a four-year program (if at all)

For most STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) degrees and some Business degrees:

  • Adult Basic Education
  • MATH 098 (possibly with MATH 038)
  • MATH& 141 (possibly with MATH 141)
  • MATH& 142
  • MATH& 151
  • MATH& 152
  • MATH& 163.
  • Other higher-level math courses (MATH 220, MATH 224, MATH 238) that your major might require.

For some Business degrees:

  • Adult Basic Education
  • MATH 116 (possibly with MATH 067)
  • MATH& 148.

For most degrees that require statistics:

  • Adult Basic Education
  • MATH& 146, possibly with support.

For most degrees that require only one Quantitative/Symbolic Reasoning course:

  • Adult Basic Education
  • MATH& 107, possibly with support

As always, PLEASE SEE AN ADVISOR before you start taking math courses to ensure that you take the correct ones and are on the right pathway.
